Mexico Mission 2019

If you are considering a mission trip, First Presbyterian Church Youth has a life-changing experience for you!

What is the Mexico Mission Trip?

On the Mexico Mission Trip, high school students and adults journey to Garcia, Mexico, to build houses for families living in poverty. By traveling to another country, participants are immersed in an environment that may look like nothing they have ever seen, and they are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, both physically and emotionally.

Throughout the trip, we foster growth within our own group by spending fun and quality time together at dinner and by participating in small groups, and we continually provide participants with opportunities to reflect on their experience through journaling, group discussions, and fellowship with each other.
The goal of the Mexico Mission Trip is to ease the burden of poverty on families we serve while also instilling in trip participants a sense of perspective, humility, and gratitude about their own lives at home.

The Mexico Mission Trip is a life-changing trip of service and fellowship that is like no other experience you’ve ever had. Imagine a service of the heart trip, eating authentic Mexican food, and experiencing the joy, humility, and satisfaction of serving a family(s) in need. Build a house for an impoverished family while building relationships with old and new friends. Get to know a family from a different culture while getting to know yourself better, too. It is a remarkable experience you won’t soon forget.

Students return sharing with the congregation saying, "Doing this kind of ministry has taught me much about myself, helped me to grow closer to God and the friends in my group, and given me a joy from knowing that God was working through me to help someone else." That's summer mission work in a nutshell, and it's one of the greatest opportunities for youth to not only talk about their faith but also to share life with one another.

The 2019 trip dates are May 28th – June 7th, 2019
Registration opens is open now thru December 16, 2018
*(If you are seriously considering going, you can be added to the list, but must confirm and pay deposit no later than January 4th, 2019)*

Beach Trip

Beach Trip

Beach Trip started last year as a surprise trip for our Youth. We are excited that this year we get to continue what is becoming an incredible tradition for the fall. This weekend provides an opportunity for all of the youth to gather together at the beach to squeeze in those last few days of almost “summer” and learn about OUR Amazing God! During the trip we stay in two beautiful homes less then 50 ft from the beach in Destin, FL. It is a weekend full of watching football, laying in the sun, breaking bread, devotion, and worship.

For those youth who do not have Monday (11/5) off of school we will have a vehicle that is going back on Sunday(11/4). See YOU there.

Mexico Blocks Fundraiser

Each year we sell "blocks" to help build the houses in Mexico. Each block is $10 and once someone buys them they write their name up on the corresponding block. Thank you so much for making sure that our fundraising table has volunteers Sunday mornings. Selling blocks is a lot of fun and is a great way to engage with our church and enable people to join with us in this mission. Meet Andrew in the Gathering Space once you get to the church.
